Weekend work walking Leicester city centre.
We're hiring Active Media Operators to walk a set route wearing an LED screen backpack. There's no selling and no approaching people. The job is to be reliable, visible and easy to talk to.

The role
What the job is.
You walk from Leicester Station, along Granby Street, to the Clock Tower, carrying a bright LED screen showing offers from local businesses.
You will
- Walk the set route during your shift
- Wear and carry the LED backpack safely
- Keep to the schedule and check in at set points
- Answer questions if someone asks about the offer on screen
- Report any equipment problem straight away
You won't
- Give a sales pitch
- Approach or stop people
- Hand anything out
- Make promises about offers beyond what's on screen
Pay and hours
Pay, hours and how shifts work.

Pay
At or above the National Minimum or Living Wage for your age, currently £8.00 to £12.71 an hour. Paid within 7 days of the end of each pay period.

Bonuses
A reliability bonus for a run of on-time, completed shifts, and a referral bonus when someone you recommend joins. Amounts are confirmed in writing before your first shift.

Shifts
About 6 hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from late morning to early evening, with a rest break. We don't currently work weekdays.

Flexibility
Shifts are offered at least 3 days ahead and you can accept or decline each one. There's no guaranteed number of shifts.

Your status
You're taken on as a worker, not self-employed, so you're entitled to at least minimum wage for every hour worked.

Notice
If you can't make a shift, tell us at least 24 hours before, unless it's a genuine emergency.
Safety
Your safety comes first.
You're visible, carrying equipment, on a busy street. We've planned for that.

Stop any shift
If you feel unsafe for any reason, end the shift and tell us when you're safe. You won't be penalised, and you're paid for the time you worked.

Trained before you start
Before your first shift, your harness is fitted with someone there, you walk the route once in daylight, and you're shown how to check the battery pack.

Check-ins
You check in at set points. If you miss one and we can't reach you, we'll come out to the route.

Weather
The screen doesn't go out in heavy or persistent rain. If it starts mid-shift, shelter and call us. You're still paid for the time you worked.

The equipment
The backpack weighs about 10 kg, with a padded, adjustable harness. If carrying that for a shift wouldn't be safe for you, tell us before you start.

If someone tries to take it
Let it go. Don't chase or confront anyone. Each unit has an AirTag so it can be recovered.
Who we're looking for
You'd be good at this if you're:
No sales experience needed. It suits students and anyone after local weekend work.
- Available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
- Based in or near Leicester, and can get to the city centre reliably
- Comfortable walking a set route for a full shift
- Punctual and trustworthy
- Friendly and approachable
- Able to show you have the right to work in the UK

Before your first shift
